About me
Krystel Bassil is the Founder of BHRMENA, the only organization in the MENA region dedicated exclusively to advancing Business and Human Rights (BHR).
She is a senior expert in business, human rights, and sustainability, providing advisory services to both the private and public sectors globally, with a particular focus on the MENA region.
With a background as a practicing lawyer in the Middle East and North Africa, Krystel brings a deep understanding of the region’s rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape, applying this expertise to her consulting work.
Her experience includes designing and implementing comprehensive BHR and ESG strategies, conducting human rights due diligence and impact assessments, and ensuring alignment with international standards and stakeholder expectations. She is also experienced in training and capacity building, helping organizations embed human rights and sustainability into their operations.
Krystel has successfully navigated complex, high-stakes issues in collaboration with NGOs, UN agencies, and government institutions, demonstrating her ability to address sensitive matters at both regional and global levels. In 2023, she was a featured speaker at the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, where she shared insights on the opportunities and challenges for advancing sustainability in the Middle East from a private-sector perspective.
She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
